Johann Carl Friedrich Gauß (latinised Carolus Fridericus Gauss; born April 30th, 1777 in Braunschweig; died February 23rd, 1855 in Göttingen) was a German mathematician, astronomer, geodesist and physicist with a broad field of interests.
