The Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) will again be well-represented at this year's International Supercomputing Conference (ISC24), taking place May, 12 – 16, 2024 in Hamburg.

This year’s conference follows the theme, “Reinventing HPC,” and the program puts a focus on the current state of high-performance computing (HPC) and how the industry will change and evolve in the years to come. Artificial intelligence (AI) has exploded in popularity in recent years, but also presents some of the most challenging demands in information technology, especially concerning computing power and data movement. As a result of these challenges, HPC has become a crucial enabler in the AI ecosystem, offering key technologies for meeting performance requirements and providing an active user community that pushes new technologies like AI to its limits in science and engineering. However, HPC remains the core engine for enabling machine learning applications with ever-rising performance requirements.

All three GCS centres – the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS), the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC), and the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) – will have staff members in attendance to both participate in the technical program as well as to come together at the GCS booth, #K02. With a series of tutorials and demonstrations, GCS centers’ staffs will explain how our centers engage with the industry’s latest developments and demonstrate how GCS builds the foundation for a sustainable and equitable new era of HPC through innovation.

As part of the conference, GCS is again supporting a joint team of students from the University of Hamburg and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in the Student Cluster Competition.
