GCS ORGANIZATION

GCS operates as a registered association (e.V.). The non-profit organization is led by a board of directors, a steering committee (funding bodies) and a scientific steering committee.

Steering Committee

The GCS steering committee is made up of representatives of the agencies funding GCS: The German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Science, Research, and the Arts, the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts and Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhein-Westphalia. It awards computing time grants on the GCS HPC systems to scientifically excellent research projects. All GCS projects are evaluated by a peer-review process strictly based on scientific and technical excellence.

The Scientific Steering Committee consists of three representatives (chair, vice chair, head of operations) from the current institutions on the GCS Council. A list of the current GCS Scientific Steering Committee members can be found here.
