The Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) proudly announces its role as official partner of STC2016, the 52^nd Symposium on Theoretical Chemistry, which will take place at the campus of the Ruhr Universität Bochum (RUB) from September 26 to 29, 2016. By acting as official sponsor of this event, GCS reinforces its commitment to the field of Theoretical Chemistry, emphasizing the benefits of state-of-the-art HPC technologies such as those provided by the GCS to help advancing computational chemistry.

The topical focus of the 2016 edition of the STC, an annual meeting of scientists from all areas of Theoretical Chemistry, is on "Chemistry in Solution". The event is hosted by the Center for Theoretical Chemistry (CTC) of RUB and co-organized by the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV (EXC 1069).

Research groups of the CTC@RUB are frequent users of the HPC resources provided by the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing. The GCS's state-of-the-art platforms are perfectly suited to tackle the typical problems addressed at STC2016 such as ground and excited-state properties of micro- or bulk solvated molecules, large molecular assemblies and condensed-phase systems in chemically complex environments, or (bio)chemical reactions in solutions using both static quantum chemistry and dynamical simulations techniques to strive for high levels of accuracy.
