Prof. Dr. Dietmar Kröner (University of Freiburg) and Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wellein (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) are the new Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively of the GCS Steering Committee, a panel overseeing the assignment of computing time on the GCS HPC systems to scientifically excellent GCS large-scale projects. The election of the Steering Committee management was held at the council's last regular meeting on April 22, 2016. In accordance with the statutes of GCS, the GCS Steering Committee positions need to be assigned at two year-intervals.

The GCS Board of Directors would like to express their deep appreciation to the outgoing GCS Steering Committee executives, Chairman Prof. Dr.-Ing. Siegfried Wagner and Vice-Chairman Prof. Dr. Kurt Binder, for their dedication and commitment in their two years of non-renewable service and wish them all the best.
