Prof. Ulf-G. Meißner, director at the Institute for Nuclear Physics and the Institute for Advanced Simulation at Forschungzentrum Jülich and professor at Bonn University, Germany, was awarded with the Lise Meitner Prize 2016 by the European Physical Society (EPS). Therewith, the EPS recognizes Meißner’s developments and applications of effective field theories in hadron and nuclear physics. The Lise Meitner Prize is awarded bi-annually for outstanding work in the fields of experimental, theoretical or applied nuclear science.
Meißner has been a long-time user of the GCS supercomputing facilities at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) and was recently granted another GCS large-scale project with the topic "Nuclear Lattice Simulations" on HPC system JUQUEEN.
