On July 16, 2024, the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS)—together with Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce and the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS)—hosted the first GCS Industry Day.
At the event, commercial and industrial researchers from various organizations participated in a full day of discussion and presentations from high-performance computing (HPC) experts aimed at highlighting the myriad ways that supercomputing, modeling and simulation, and artificial intelligence can positively impact their research and development efforts and the benefits of using these technologies at a public HPC facility.
The day’s highlight came from exclusive presentations from industry professionals with experience and success stories pertaining to their own use of HPC. These presentations led to detailed discussions and idea exchanges between the presenters and the attendees. Participants involved in R&D at their organizations also benefited from forward-looking presentations that could ultimately help their own future efforts to accelerate innovation, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
At the end of the presentations, participants toured HLRS’s computer room as well as its 3D CAVE visualization facility. The next GCS Industry Day is being planning and will take place at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre in the coming months.
